Trying to Get the opinions out.
As humans it’s a survival technique to band together with your own kind to fight off the dangers of the environment around you.
My chemical romance has… affected me. My life. The way I view things. I don’t fit in. Anywhere. I feel like I’m wandering the world with my two best friends and we are forced to survive it alone. But when I listen to the music the band produces I feel like it’s calling me home. Like it’s the bell to come home after a long day of play. But it turns out, when living in Arizona, I’m not aloud home. I’ve been locked out.
It’s that gut feeling of welcoming that makes me love this band. No matter how upset I’m feeling I know the music will make me feel better. But the question is, will I ever get to go to a concert? My chem is boycotting Arizona because of the immigration laws. The hard part is, I have no control over what comes out of that capital building. What can I do? But the thing is, SB 1070 is something our state needs. The illegal immigration is through the roof and it’s not something that can just be ignored.
-“The federal government estimated that Arizona had one of the fastest growing illegal immigrant populations in the country, increasing from 330,000 in 2000 to 560,000 by 2008.”
-“Arizona has adopted other laws to deter the settlement of illegal immigrants in the state in recent years. The federal government estimates that the illegal immigrant population dropped by 18 percent in the state from 2008 to 2009, compared to a 7 percent drop for the nation as a whole.2 This may be evidence that the state enforcement efforts are having an impact.”
-“In 2007, the Center for Immigration Studies estimated that 12 percent of workers in Arizona are illegal immigrants.”
That twelve percent are taking our money, and not contributing to the system. Not paying taxes sometimes sending the money home, contributing to the shaking economy.
-“K-12 education system spends approximately $7.7 billion a year to school the children of illegal aliens who now constitute 15 percent of the student body. Another $1.4 billion of the taxpayers’ money goes toward providing health care to illegal aliens and their families.”
-“A new study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes that the costs to Californians is $10.5 billion per year.”
-“The new law (SB 1070) is extremely popular among Arizona voters. A Rasmussen poll found that 70 percent of voters approve of the new bill, and just 23 percent oppose it.”
The bill is needed in our state. And we have to take action. The Us is accepting of immigrants and welcoming them with open arms. All is asked is that you register to be a citizen and take part in our society. Is that too much to ask?
But people can have their opinions about the law. The thing is, most of the my Chemical Romance fans are under 18 and don’t have the right to vote. We can’t make the change you want to see. All I am is a fourteen year old fangirl who wants to come home.
